– I’m a photographer
The more you think about it, the weirder photography appears...
The lens gathers light in a special way, different than how your eye does. The sensor absorbs and records the lens-distorted light in a way completely foreign to the biological eye-brain system. But the biosystem within each of us, even while showing discrepancies from person to person, is and has to be our baseline for judgement where images are concerned. So the whole thing is a circus: each person who views a certain image will see or not see specific details depending on their personal experience and worldview. This makes photography difficult to talk about. Some qualities of an image may however be universally recognizable: Does it stand out? Does it illustrate the idea?
